Region 9 Horseman Award Recipients

Posted September 13, 2006 @ 09:37 PM

January, 2009

Every year, Region IX ends their show year with a Horsefest/Partypalooza that has everything from seminars and meetings, to fundraisers, to a stallion service auction that funds the 2 yr old Futurity at Regionals each year as well as the Youth Scholarships that Region 9 gives out each year. The culmination of the day is an Awards Banquet that announces the winners of the Region 9 Horseman Awards.

The Horseman Awards nominees are nominated by member of Region 9 (which consists of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.) The top nominees are placed on a ballot that is sent to all Region 9 members and voted on. This year, we are proud to know three of the recipients.

The Region 9 Horseman Award for 11-13 years old went to Lance Lewis! What a way to end the year! Just when we thought it couldn't get any better! What an honor! Congratulations, Lance!

The Region 9 Horseman Award for 14-17 years old went to Jasmine Anwer. Although we were not actively involved with Jasmine's horse career this past year, we have enjoyed her visits out to visit her filly, Fin, and we are very proud of her accomplishments!

The Region 9 Horseman Award for Lifetime Achievement went to JoAnn Crockett! Congratulations, JoAnn! You have received a great honor and we're proud to know you!

December, 2009

Lewis LTD is excited to announce that we are the proud owners of TAF Remember Me! (upper left)

"Ricky" is a 2006 bay Arabian gelding that we've worked with quite extensively in the past. He was 2008 Region 9 Reserve Champion Stallion Halter AAOTH with his former owner, Jessica Rowlett. We're looking forward to continuing his under saddle education and watching Lance show him halter this coming year. Who knows, maybe he'll make Lance a great Showmanship horse, too!

November, 2009

The NTAHC Shoot Out Show was held in Glenrose, TX. Lewis LTD attended with two horses showing.

CSA Sparklingfire a 3yr old Half-Arabian was doing her first show with us after two months of tuning. Her owner Rachel Harrington had done all the work with her prior to that. The young mare and her rider performed amazingly well, winning the Half-Arabian Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse class and taking the Reserve Champion Half-Arabian Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse class behind a 5 yr old. She looked gorgeous! We're thrilled with how well she performed for Rachel and we're thrilled with the way Rachel held her together through her "baby" moments. We're looking forward to seeing her this coming year as she matures and the team continues to grow!

Lyte Bey and Lance Lewis also attended and had a successful show. The team had some beautiful goes throughout the Hunter and Western Pleasure Jr Rider classes that culminated in them winning the High Point Savings Bond! Way to go guys!

September, 2009

The North Texas Arabian Horse Club of Texas has, for the past several years, hosted the Catch The Spirit, Meet the Arabian Horse extravaganza! The basis for this is to share our passion and love of the Arabian horse as a breed and as individual horses with anyone who wants to meet them! There were horse lovers of all shapes and sizes, of all experiences (or lack of experience) who came and painted, brushed, pet, treated and for 30 lucky kids, take a lesson on an Arabian Horse!

Sandy Bentley and Lisa Skalski worked diligently (as they have in past years) giving lessons and inviting everyone and anyone to meet these remarkable horses. Chantelle Lewis was also privileged to work with this program this year. It was her first time being involved. Chantelle and Lance brought Serr Signature to join in as an ambassador of our amazing breed! Chantelle gave many lessons to some very enthusiastic and willing kids as well as inviting them to come learn to groom and pet Serr when they weren't riding. Serr's ridiculously long tail was a wonderful draw to get them up close enough to enjoy him!(upper right)

Jenny Machalicek and Murphy were also wonderful ambassadors for us that day. Murphy became a living breathing canvas and his white coat made the perfect place for people to get up close and personal with an Arabian while they painted all over him with every color of paint on the rainbow. Murphy loved it and sported his paint for several days after the event.

Lance Lewis was also an integral part of the day being the gopher between lessons as well as helping with the painting and the grooming. Good job Lance!

 June, 2009

The 2009 Pinto World Championship show has come to a close. What a fun place to experience people and horses from a diverse background all gathered together for the love of the common Pinto breed! I really enjoyed our experience there.

Saqlawi Lil Pocohontas, a 2 yr old black/white overo filly, upper left, made her big ring debut in Tulsa at the PWC show. She is owned by Angie Wallis, and we thank her for allowing us to train, condition and present her at this show.

Their was a lot of buzz in the stand and in the warm-up pen over this filly. It was really fun to talk to everyone and we appreciate all of their comments.

"Pokie" was a Double World Champion this year! She was Pinto World Champion in Open Mares, 2yr and under Pleasure Type AS WELL AS Overo, Pleasure/Saddle Type. What a great way to make her debut!

November, 2008

The NTAHC ShootOut Show was held in Glenrose, TX. We had two amateurs have a great show there!

DA Avalanche (2yr grey Arabian gelding) and his owner Reagan Halsted were first place in the Sport Horse in Hand Geldings Open AND Amateur Class. They have come FAR in two short months.

Lyte Bey (7yr bay Arabian gelding) and Lance Lewis competed in many classes and came away with two firsts in Western Pleasure Amateur classes as well as a first in Hunter Pleasure JOTR 13y and under. They culminated the show with a Reserve Championship in Arabian Gelding In Hand AOTH as well as Reserve Champion Hunter Pleasure JOTH 17y and under!

To make it even better, Lance won the High Point 13y and under award of a $500 scholarship. Nice going guys!

April 2008

The AHCT Texas Spring Show was held in Nacogdoches, TX. Lewis LTD had a couple of great teams working there.

TAF Remember Me (2yr bay colt) and his owner Jessica Rowlett showed to Grand Champion Stallion as well as Grand Champion Amateur to Handle (over mares and geldings!) Way to go Ricky and Jessie!

Lyte Bey (7 yr old bay gelding) and Lance Lewis were also seen in the ring. They were Reserve Champion Western Pleasure JOTR 17y and under as well as first in the Showmanship 17y and under class. They looked great together! (Upper right)

We're proud of both of our "teams" and are looking forward to seeing them in the future!

July/August 2007

Albequerque, NM was the setting of the 15th annual Arabian and Half-Arabian Youth National Championship Show.

Lance Lewis and Serr Signature, as well as Megan Farris and Minstrels Voyageur made the trek west to try their hand at the greatest show of the year!

Megan and Voyageur were competing in the Showmanship JTH 11-13yr old. This was their first year to compete at the National level. There were 60+ competitors and another section had to be added to accomodate all of the horses. That meant another pattern to perform and another class to "make the cut" in. The duo stood up to the challenge and walked (and trotted) away with a Youth National Top Ten Award!

Way to go guys! I'm so proud of all the hard work and effort and love that you put into this and you definitely deserve it!

Lance and Serr competed in the Showmanship 10y and under class. There were 45+ competitors and it was amazing how competitive all of the exhibitors were at the age level! Very tough! When it was all said and done, Lance and Serr were Reserve National Champion! YEE HAW!

Everything that they had learned and worked together on came to fruition in those patterns that were performed and it was obvious that they were a "team" and it was very fun to watch! Way to go Lance!

May 2007

We're thrilled that another Lewis LTD alumnist went on to be a thrill for his owners. Ralph and Lisa Raith took TD Shiloh Magic to their first one day open show together. Shiloh was with us over this past winter.

They showed him in Halter and Western Pleasure and won ribbons in every class he went in. He even received a 2nd place in a Western class of 8 horses! Way to go guys!

March 2007

Congratulations to Chantelle Lewis on receiving the 2006 Region IX Horseman Award for Halter Trainer-Female. The awards were voted on by members of the Region IX Arabian Horse Association ranging from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. What an honor and a privilege to be recognized by your peers!

December, 2006

Congratulations to Georgia Hodge on her purchase of Wisely Keepn Time. We can't wait to see you guys in the show ring real soon! We're going to miss him, but we know that he's going to a great home!

Congratulations also to Lance Lewis on his acquisition of Lyte Bey! It's the first horse you've ever owned! Have fun, buddy!

Watch for Lance in 2007 in Halter gelding, showmanship and Western Pleasure Walk-Trot with "LB"!

September, 2006

The Arkansas Arabian Horse Club put on the Arkansas Fall Fling in Little Rock, Arkansas on Sept 9-10.

Lewis LTD-Dennis and Chantelle Lewis attended with two horses: Wisely Keepn Time (aka Wizard) & Lyte Bey (aka LB).

The atmosphere at the show was light hearted, laid back and a lot of fun! The show staff and exhibitors were very friendly and hospitable. The weather couldn't have been better, and a good time was had by all.

LB is a 5 yr old bay gelding and was shown in Arabian Western Pleasure and he was first place in the Western Pleasure Jr. Horse Class as well as the Western Pleasure Maturity. The Maturity was his first time to hand gallop in a class and he handled it beautifully and reminded us that he has an amazing hand gallop!

Wizard is also a 5 yr old bay gelding and was shown in Arabian Country Pleasure Open as no Jr Horse classes were available at this show. It was his first time to strong trot and hand gallop and as hoped, he was happy to oblige and became even more brilliant! Wizard won his Country Pleasure Open class as well as the Championship! He also won the Country Pleasure Maturity class and had the stands hooting and hollerin'!

Thank you to Jay and Robin Bray for letting us stall with them and putting up with us.
